There are two main solar rebate schemes in Australia:

March 1, 2024by Luke0

1. Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES): This scheme provides a financial incentive for households, small businesses, and community groups to install small-scale renewable energy systems such as Solar panels. Under the SRES, participants receive small-scale technology certificates (STCs) for the amount of electricity their system generates. These STCs can then be sold or traded to recoup some of the upfront costs of installing the system.

2. Feed-in Tariff (FiT): Some states and territories in Australia offer a feed-in tariff for excess electricity generated by Solar panels or other renewable energy systems that is exported back to the grid. The FiT is a payment made by electricity retailers to the system owner for each kilowatt-hour of electricity exported. This can help offset electricity bills and encourage the uptake of Solar energy. Each state or territory has its own FiT scheme with varying rates and eligibility criteria.
