The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES) is a federal government program that provides financial incentives for households and businesses to install small-scale renewable energy systems, such as Solar panels, wind turbines, and Solar hot water systems. The SRES works by issuing Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) for eligible renewable energy systems, which can then be sold or traded on the open market. The value of STCs fluctuates based on market demand and can help reduce the upfront cost of installing a Solar system.

The Solar Homes Program, on the other hand, is a state government initiative that provides rebates and discounts for eligible households looking to install Solar panels. The program is currently available in Victoria, New South Wales, and South Australia, and offers rebates or interest-free loans to help offset the cost of installing a Solar system. The goal of the Solar Homes Program is to make Solar power more accessible and affordable for households, ultimately reducing energy bills and carbon emissions.

Both programs aim to incentivize the adoption of renewable energy technologies, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to Australia’s overall transition to a clean energy future.
