The main solar rebate program in Australia is the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), which is administered by the Clean Energy Regulator. Under this scheme, homeowners and small businesses can receive a financial rebate for the installation of solar panels, wind turbines, or solar water heaters.

The Rebate is calculated based on the amount of renewable energy the system is expected to generate over its lifetime, as well as the current market price for Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). These STCs can be sold on the open market to help offset the cost of the system.

To be eligible for the Rebate, the system must be installed by a Clean Energy Council-accredited installer and comply with relevant Australian standards. The Rebate amount varies depending on the size and location of the system, as well as the current market price of STCs.

The SRES is designed to incentivize the uptake of renewable energy systems and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. By installing Solar panels or other renewable energy systems, homeowners and small businesses can reduce their reliance on fossil fuels, lower their energy bills, and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future for Australia.
