Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES): This is a national rebate program that provides financial incentives for installing small-scale renewable energy systems, including solar panels. The amount of rebate you can claim depends on the size of your system and the number of Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) it is eligible for.

STCs are created for every megawatt-hour of electricity generated by a small-scale renewable energy system, and they can be traded or sold to recoup some of the upfront costs of installing the system. The SRES aims to encourage the uptake of renewable energy technologies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation.

To be eligible for the SRES Rebate, the system must be installed by a Clean Energy Council accredited installer and meet all relevant Australian standards and regulations. The Rebate amount decreases each year, so it’s important to take advantage of the scheme sooner rather than later.

In addition to the SRES Rebate, some state and territory governments also offer additional incentives for installing Solar panels, such as feed-in tariffs for excess electricity exported back to the grid. It’s worth researching what incentives are available in your area to make the most of your investment in Solar energy.
