Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES): This is a national program that provides financial incentives for households and small businesses to install solar panels, wind turbines, or solar water heaters. The SRES provides Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) which can be sold or traded to help offset the upfront cost of installing the solar system.

The SRES aims to encourage the uptake of renewable energy systems by making them more affordable for consumers. By providing financial incentives, the scheme helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable energy production.

Households and small businesses can apply for STCs through registered agents who can assess the eligibility of the system and help with the paperwork. The number of STCs received depends on factors such as the size of the system, location, and the amount of electricity generated.

The SRES is administered by the Clean Energy Regulator and is available to eligible applicants across Australia. It is an important initiative in the transition towards a cleaner and more sustainable energy future.
