Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES): This is a federal government initiative that provides financial incentives to households and small businesses for installing eligible renewable energy systems, including solar panels. The incentive is in the form of Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), which can be traded or sold to help offset the cost of the system.

The SRES aims to support the uptake of renewable energy technologies and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by providing a financial incentive for individuals and small businesses to invest in Solar panels and other renewable energy systems. By generating their own clean energy, participants can reduce their reliance on grid electricity and lower their electricity bills.

To be eligible for the SRES, the renewable energy system must be installed by a Clean Energy Council accredited installer and comply with relevant Australian standards. The amount of financial incentive available through the scheme is determined by the amount of electricity the system is expected to generate over its lifetime, as measured in STCs.

The SRES has been successful in driving the uptake of Solar panels and other renewable energy systems in Australia, with thousands of households and businesses taking advantage of the financial incentives available. This not only benefits individual participants by reducing their electricity bills and carbon footprint, but also contributes to Australia’s transition to a cleaner and more sustainable energy system.
